Antonio Colak sets out his Rangers targets as giddy striker struggles to explain 'how big this club are'

Rangers striker Antonio Colak reckons his move to Ibrox can be his launchpad for a World Cup place in Qatar with Croatia later this year.

The former PAOK hitman completed a £2.5 million move last week and made his debut in Rangers' 2-1 friendly win at Blackpool. Colak won three caps for his country when he was top scorer in the country with Rijeka before his ill-fated move to Greece.

And he's determined to reclaim his place and join Ibrox team-mate Borna Barisic in the World Cup runners-up squad at Qatar in November. He said: "My biggest goal is to play in the World Cup and I can only go there if I score goals. Rangers are by far the biggest club I have ever played for, I can't even describe how big this club are. They ask me to give everything and the fans and the club will return it all to me. I'm overjoyed to be here.

"It will be very important to win trophies. The ultimate goal is the Champions League group. It is clear that the pressure will be great, but I'm ready for it. You can't be at a club as big as that and not have pressure. There is a lot of attacking competition, Alfredo Morelos plays in my position, he scored a lot of goals. Also, Kemar Roofe is a good striker. It will be a real fight, I want to impose myself and score.

"There were other offers, but the whole story about Rangers was fascinating to me. When I heard that the Rangers wanted me, I wanted nothing else. I had other offers, but money wasn't important. I spoke with Nikica Jelavic after I signed the contract. He wished me luck and hoped I scored many goals. I hope to see him in Glasgow. He explained to me what this club means to people and what they will expect from me - to fight for the badge and have maximum effort in every game."

And Colak, in an interview with homeland publication Vecernji list, isn't interested in using Rangers as a springboard for a move to England. He pointed out: "Honestly, I didn't think about the English Premier League. Just coming to Rangers is a big step forward for me. I want to do my best and score as many goals as possible."
