Antonio Colak hits back at Rangers hero Mark Hateley as 'waste of time' barb gets shot down

Unfazed Antonio Colak insists he simply ignored his harsh Rangers critics after Mark Hateley called him "a waste of time". Hateley delivered the stinging verdict on the striker's performance following the Ibrox club's Champions League defeat to Union Saint-Gilloise in a disappointing third round qualifying first leg.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst 's side bounced back in the return with Colak netting a crucial second on the night. He's since taken his tally to three in three outings with another important strike at home to St Johnstone on Saturday and is set to start once more when PSV Eindhoven come to Glasgow on Tuesday.

Colak can help fire Rangers into the lucrative group stage and is desperate to make his mark against the Eredivisie leaders this week. But he says that determination is not borne of a desire to silence his critics such as Hateley - because he doesn't pay attention to them anyway.

Colak said: "I set my targets really high, I want to play at the highest level. I want to play with Rangers in the Champions League. Scoring at this level is against the best opponents, but I love to score against any team.

"I always give it my maximum, to have players like Alfredo makes us even stronger. We need players like this in every position to help our team.

"For me as a person, I am a really positive guy and I try to make the best of every day. I try to work hard, improve every day and ignore any negativity. I try to ignore the media other than any goals I score!

"The group have made it really easy for me to settle, they have been really open to me and the atmosphere around the whole club is amazing. Every day I enter the training ground I am really happy to be here, it means a lot for me to play for Rangers."
