Antonio Brown still wants the Steelers but do the Steelers want him?

ESPN Pittsburgh Steelers reporter Jeremy Fowler has a full timeline of at least a version of the events that led to the Steelers and wide receiver Antonio Brown parting ways. Keeping in mind this is just one side of this whole fiasco there were some really interesting nuggets from Brown’s agent Drew Rosenhaus.

This line is easily my favorite from the whole piece.

“He wants to maintain a relationship with the Steelers as one of the best to ever put on the uniform,” Rosenhaus said. Sometimes you have to take what these guys say and translate what it means.

What Brown is saying is he has no plans to create any real legacy with the Oakland Raiders and wants to be able to cash in post-retirement with this fanbase.

But it does raise an interesting point. Once football is over for Brown, will the Steelers’ fanbase embrace him and welcome him back after retirement like they have so many other players? Even a guy like wide receiver Santonio Holmes is a fan favorite even though he left but he also has a big catch in a pretty big game.

You have to assume time will heal all wounds and Steeler Nation will be ready for Brown when he’s ready to return.
