Antonio Brown’s lawyer denied the sexual assault allegations against the New England Patriots wide receiver in a statement released on Tuesday, the same day that his former trainer filed a lawsuit against him in the Southern District of Florida.
Brown’s lawyer Darren Heitner went so far as to say the claims against Brown were a “money grab.”
“He will pursue all legal remedies to not only clear his name, but also to protect other professional athletes against false accusations,” Heitner wrote.
The allegations state that Brown committed three occurrences of sexual assault between 2017 and 2018. The legal complaint stated the following incidents:
“(The accuser) claims that Brown forcibly kissed her and masturbated near her during separate encounters in 2017 while she was helping train him for an upcoming NFL season. She alleges that Brown raped her on May 20, 2018.”
In response, Heitner wrote that Brown had a personal and sexual relationship with the woman.
“Any sexual interaction with Mr. Brown was entirely consensual,” Heitner wrote. During their relationship, Brown was asked to invest $1.6 million in the woman’s business project, per Heitner.
“When Mr. Brown refused to make the $1.6 million ‘investment,’ the accuser supposedly cut off communication with Mr. Brown,” Heitner said. “However, in 2018, the accuser resurfaced and offered to travel to Pennsylvania and South Florida to train Mr. Brown for the upcoming season. Thereafter, the accuser engaged Mr. Brown in a consensual personal relationship. … Mr. Brown’s accuser has continually posted photographs of Mr. Brown on her social media in an effort to financially benefit from his celebrity.”
