Antonio Brown requests trade; Patrick Peterson reaches out

It appears Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Antonio Brown is done with his current team. Between what he shared on social media and what has now been reported, Brown is seeking to be traded from the Steelers.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Brown has officially requested a trade.

Brown has all but moved on from the Steelers, as evidenced by this post on social media.

Could the Arizona Cardinals get involved? Star cornerback Patrick Peterson would like that to happen, as he reached out to Brown on Twitter.

It is possible he is simply reaching out because he asked the Cardinals to trade him during the season. It might be helpful. It might be to recruit.

Brown would not come cheaply.

Aside from whatever compensation might be needed to acquire Brown, he is due quite a bit of money still on his contract.

He will get a $2.5 million roster bonus March 17. His salary for the next three seasons is $11.625 million, $11.3 million and $12.5 million.

The Cardinals have cap space and have the need at receiver. It would take a little more than $14 million in cap space to accommodate his contract, but a trio of Brown, Larry Fitzgerald and Christian Kirk at receiver would be a drastic upgrade from a season ago.

The Cardinals have already been active this offseason. Could they get involved with Brown and add him to their roster?

It would make for an exciting offseason and 2019 should that happen.
