Antonio Brown rejects the haters: ‘In a time of crisis, all I ask is love, dedication and focus’

Antonio Brown checked in from Tom Brady’s TB12 Performance and Recovery Center on Thursday night. The New England Patriots receiver, who signed with the Patriots on Saturday and faced allegations of sexual assault in a civil lawsuit on Tuesday, took to a Instagram live video to discuss his state of mind.

“The work don’t stop. No matter what they say, no matter what they hate, somebody’s still gotta work,” Brown said during the Instagram video. “Call God. In a time of crisis, all I ask is love, dedication and focus. Stay focused. The devil is going to try to bring you down when you get closer to your goals. The key is, don’t let him.

“I was thinking about it. All the basketball players in the world, all the soccer players in the world — they get love and embrace. Maybe we need a football U.S.A. team so the world can love us, because all we get is hate.”

Here’s a look at some of the video, which has been taken down. (We also recorded audio of the stream.) The Providence Journal’s Mark Daniels recorded a part of the live video post.

Brown has not yet spoken with reporters in New England. But apparently, he’s ready to speak freely on social media. It’s unclear whether his appearance was OKed by Bill Belichick. It’s easy to see Belichick arguing that if Brown wants to “stay focused,” as he said, then he might be wise to stay off social media.
