Antonio Brown meets with NFL, not expected to play again this season

It looks like Antonio Brown will get every opportunity to finish his semester at Central Michigan University.

After a reported eight-hour meeting Thursday with NFL officials, Brown is not expected to play again this year, according to ESPN. He reportedly denied allegations of sexual assault and misconduct levied earlier this year against him.

"Brown felt it went well, had a chance to share his reflections during the time he's been out of the game & was very responsive to all questions," ESPN's Josina Anderson reported, presumably from a source close to Brown.

The one-time, short-time Raiders wide receiver has played just one game in 2019, catching a touchdown in the Patriots' Week 2 drubbing of the Dolphins.

That was after he was named in a lawsuit alleging he repeatedly sexually assaulted a former trainer, but before he sent threatening text messages to a woman who accused him of another instance of sexual misconduct.

After that revelation, the Patriots released Brown and he's been unemployed since. Teams have been unsure of how and when the league may discipline Brown, whose talent is undeniable but whose alleged conduct is reprehensible, not to mention his bizarre behavior that led to exits from both Pittsburgh and Oakland.

Anderson reported Thursday on Outside the Lines that Brown planned to cast doubt on the trainer's allegations in his meeting with the NFL, painting them as extortion.

The league has not announced any suspension or discipline against Brown at this point as it continues to investigate the allegations.

Brown has filed grievances against the Raiders and Patriots, who he says owe him nearly $40 million. Both teams voided a contract with Brown after fining him for conduct detrimental to the team.
