Anton Dowds has agreed a move to Raith Rovers.

Herald Sport understands the striker is set to complete a free transfer move to the Kirkcaldy club after leaving Ayr.

Dowds, 29, opted to leave the Championship club upon the expiry of his contract after three years.

He is now set to join Dougie Imrie's squad as Championship rivals Raith Rovers for the 2026/27 season after spending time in the PFA Scotland pre-season camp.

Announcing his exit from Ayr United earlier this summer, Dowds posted: "After 3 fantastic years, I’ve made the difficult decision to leave Ayr United following the expiry of my contract.

"I’d like to thank everyone connected with the club for their support during my time at the club. I’ve made some great memories at Ayr.

"I feel now is the right time to take on a new challenge and explore new opportunities.

"Thank you for everything."

Dowds has played for East Fife, Falkirk, Arbroath, Partick Thistle and Ayr. He scored seven goals in 31 outings for Ayr last season.
