Antoine Griezmann wants Neymar Barcelona transfer despite selection problems

Antoine Griezmann has joined Barcelona team-mate Lionel Messi in requesting a return for Neymar.

The Brazilian was involved in a summer-long transfer saga as he expressed a desire to leave PSG.

Neymar has been linked with a move back to the Nou Camp for much of his time in Paris and Griezmann wants the club to seal the deal, reports Mundo Deportivo .

The world's most expensive player left Spain in an effort to assume the limelight having played second fiddle to Messi.

But his aspirations, one of which was to win the Ballon d'Or, have not materialised as he envisaged with injuries and transfer speculation plaguing his PSG career.

A return for Neymar would put Griezmann's spot in the starting XI at risk with Messi and Luis Suarez starring in the Barcelona attack.

Griezmann only moved to Barcelona from Atletico Madrid in the summer, but is more than willing to see the Brazilian back at the Nou Camp.

The 27-year-old would likely command a fee exceeding the £200m it took PSG to sign him two-and-a-half years ago.

The Catalans were unable to stump up the cash in the summer having already added Griezmann and Frenkie De Jong so instead tried to tempt the Parisians with a cash-plus-player offer.

One of the players involved in the proposed deal was Ousmane Dembele - the Frenchman unable to establish himself in the Barcelona XI.

Should the La Liga champions succeed in luring Neymar back to Spain then the future of Dembele will be very much in the spotlight.

The Frenchman is already behind Ernesto Valverde's preferred front three while teenagers Ansu Fati and Carles Perez continue to press their cases.
