Antoine Griezmann responds to transfer row between Atletico Madrid and Barcelona

Antoine Griezmann has found himself at the centre of a bitter row after his summer move to Barcelona .

Atletico Madrid are set to ask La Liga to block his registration as they claim they should be entitled to a higher fee based on when the Frenchman started negotiating with their rivals.

Barcelona paid £107m to land Griezmann when his release clause dropped from £180m on July 1, although Atletico claim they should be due the full amount as negotiations began prior to that date.

The situation is showing no signs of a resolution, despite Griezmann being in pre-season training with his new team-mates and excited by a new challenge.

He has now says he is "hurt" by the attitude of his former club as he claimed to have left on clear terms before the situation turned sour.

Griezmann told Mundo Deportivo : "It hurts to hurt, for everything I've done. I tried to do everything the club asked me to do.

"When we had the meeting I was clear with them and they also with me, but in the end what was said between us has not been done. I don't know why but it is like that."

Atletico Madrid will not host Barcelona in La Liga until December 1 - but Griezmann admits he is expecting a frosty reception at the Wanda Metropolitano.

"I imagine it will be a bit difficult," he predicted.

"But I understand it because he was also a very important player for them, although the love I have for the coach, my teammates and the fans is very great.

"As with Real Sociedad. They are the two clubs that gave me everything and made me a footballer, world champion. Everything."

Griezmann's new Barcelona side were back in action on Saturday morning, taking on Vissel Kobe and club legend Andreas Iniesta in Japan.

They will take on Arsenal in the Joan Gamper Trophy at the Nou Camp next weekend as their pre-season preparations step up a notch.
