Antoine Griezmann has had a tough start to life at Barcelona .
The big-money summer signing has failed to make a major impact since his arrival from Atletico Madrid in a controversial move.
Reports in Spain prior to the transfer suggested Barcelona stars including Lionel Messi were not keen to sign the French World Cup winner after he snubbed them the previous summer.
And Griezmann has now given an insight into his relationship with Messi, suggesting they are yet to build up a close bond.
Messi has missed early parts of the season with injury troubles and, according to Griezmann, the fact neither are the most talkative has led to it being "difficult" to develop a connection.
Speaking ahead of Barcelona's Champions League clash with Inter Milan, Griezmann said: "He is not someone who talks a lot and neither am I. It's difficult.
"I have already given him some maté [a traditional South American drink] and we are going in the right direction.
"But he has been injured a lot so it is difficult to make this connection, to improve it.
"We are two good guys, nice people, and I'm here to help anyone on the team."
Griezmann and his attacking colleagues drew blanks in their Champions League opener with Borussia Dortmund last month, drawing 0-0.
It led to the forward stating they must build up a relationship on the field in order to hit top form.
"I have been at the club for just two months," Griezmann said after their European opener.
"I am still getting used to playing here, and the roles and movements of my teammates.
"Also, I am still adjusting to playing with Suarez, Messi and Dembele, as they are with me.
"But I am confident that we are moving in the right direction as a team."
