Antoine Griezmann "happy" for Kylian Mbappe after he tortured Barcelona

Antoine Griezmann paid tribute to the display of his international teammate Kylian Mbappe as the forward's hat-trick downed Barcelona in the Champions League.

Mbappe struck three times as Barca were blown apart by Paris Saint-Germain at the Nou Camp, losing 4-1 after Lionel Messi's penalty had given them the lead in the first half.

The treble came off the back of some recent criticism of Mbappe in France, as speculation continues to mount over where his future lies.

The World Cup winners' contract runs out in the summer of 2022, and he has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Liverpool.

Griezmann was left in awe of his display though, and says he will soon be regarded as the best player in the world.

"I am happy for him," he told RMC Sport.

"He has been criticised a lot, but that is what happens when you are someone for a little while.

"As soon as he plays less well, we criticise him. It is quite easy.

"But I believe that PSG have a future star, one who will be on the level of Leo and Cristiano. He had a truly great match."

PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino says that Mbappe was in a confident mood before the match, telling his manager that he fancied them to record a victory over the Catalan giants.

"Yesterday, at training, he asked me how many times I had won at the Camp Nou," said Pochettino after the match.

"Once, I told him.

"He replied to me: tomorrow, we are going to win a second time. He is a top player."
