Antiques Roadshows expert's 'heart stopped' after spotting one of a kind treasure

An Antiques Roadshow expert said his "heart stopped" as he spotted a unique object on today's show .

Expert Ronnie Archer Morgan told a father and daughter that what they had brought to the show made his "pulse race."

The family brought a fake snakes head out and Ronnie said it was a unique pill container.

He said: "This is why I do the antiques roadshow, I sit here all day hoping to see something that makes my pulse race.

"When you pulled this out of your bag my heart stopped."

The dad explained he had had it for over 50 years, he said: "I got it from my grandparents home, my grandma never liked it and my grandad gave it to me.

"My mother said get rid of it and I had to hide it in my sock drawer for over ten years."

Ronnie said: "When you pulled it out I thought it was real, it's actually gun metal, it's got gold teeth and glass eyes, it's 18 carat gold.

"I believe it was a pill container from the 19th century.

"It's the most extraordinary thing and extraordinary things have extraordinary value.

"If this went to auction it would make £2,000-£3,000 at the least."

The daughter quickly assured her dad that she wouldn't sell it, she said: "I wont sell it, don't worry."

*The Antiques Roadshow continues on Sunday on BBC1
