Antiques Roadshow guests stunned as paint box valued at staggering amount

Guests on Antiques Roadshow tonight were left stunned when their paint box was valued at a staggering amount of money.

The woman explained how on her 21st birthday, her aunt who was an avid antique collector, gifted her a brass box.

Expert Lennox Cato revealed the box was actually a lap desk from 1809, often used for painting.

Featuring different wells, one part of the desk was used for storing important documents, while the upper part included inkwells.

And at the side was a painting set, full of different colours.

But Mr Cato revealed something special about the paint colours.

Each of them had inscribed on the back 'Reeves and Inwood, original inventors of colours to the Royal Family.'

The woman and her partner were shocked, saying they had never looked at the back of the colours.

Mr Cato described the lap desk as being of 'premier quality', saying her aunt and its original owner mustn't have used the box at all.

He then valued the box at an incredible £2500, stunning the two guests.

The woman was speechless, managing only a 'wow' while her partner joked that it was 'quite a nice birthday present.'
