An Antiques Roadshow guest was left speechless after the antiques expert determined the true value of her precious jewlellery collection.
Expert Geoffrey Munn delivered the good news to the unknowing guest and her family member who brought their family heirlooms to be valued at the roadshow.
The guests explained that the collection had a special connection to the royal family – but little did they know how much the vintage pieces were actually worth.
Viewers saw the relatives showcase two vintage brooches which originally belonged to a great-great-aunt who worked for Queen Alexandra of Denmark.
The background to the brooches delighted antiques expert Geoffrey who gushed over the vintage gems.
“Well two jewels here, two original boxes for them, and in the lid, there are suppliers to the Royal Family,” he said.
"This one says Hancock’s and that one says Collingwood. Both of them have been suppliers to the British Royal Family for quite a long time.
"What amazing relics they are!”
If that wasn’t enough, the antiques guru then took a closer look at each brooch and revealed that one was made of pure gold and embellished with coral.
Geoffrey told viewers that the coral within the brooch is associated with Venus - the goddess of love - and it’s likely that it would be given to someone if they were a potential suitor.
“This is the sort of thing that would mark a big occasion in a courtier's life,” he revealed.
Meanwhile, the second brooch was made with black Onyx and had a very special pearl within it.
The expert was then left shocked when he then turned over the brooch to see an image of Queen Alexandra and alongside it, there was an inscription.
The engraving read: "From Her Royal Highness the Princess of Wales, July 7, 1870.”
In his amazement, Geoffrey said: "This is an intensely personal gift."
It was in that moment the guests told Geoffrey that their great-great-aunt had been a maid for the then Princess Alexandra and was gifted the jewellery from the royal.
The antiques expert then finally delivered the estimated value of the gorgeous items.
Geoffrey said: “When you can find a piece of jewellery like this, with the maker, with the provenance, and the exact history, comes a jolly nice value.
“I have no hesitation at all in saying this is £6,000 to £8,000.
“I’m even going to say £8,000 to £10,000.”
Naturally, the guests were stunned by the true value of their family relics, and gasped as Geoffrey shared his estimated price tag.
The beaming ladies squealed: “That is incredible! Wow, that is amazing. I mean we are really - it’s the historical value of them.”
