Antiques Roadshow expert Henry Sandon recovering in hospital after fall

TV antiques expert Henry Sandon is recovering at hospital after suffering a fall at home.

The 90-year-old former presenter, known for his long career on the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow , was reported to have suffered a fall at his Worcester home on Tuesday April 30.

He spent around 20 hours stranded on the kitchen floor before police officers broke in after his family became concerned they were unable to contact him.

Mr Sandon, who turns 91 in August, was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where is said to be "recovering and in good spirits."

He is widely regarded as the world authority on Worcester Porcelain and has been a regular on the Antiques Roadshow since the 1970s.

He first trained as an archaeologist where he developed an interest in antiques.

He was then appointed curator of the Dyson Perrins Museum in 1966.

In 2000 he won a public vote to be crowned Antiques Personality of the Year and in 2008 was awarded an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours for his services to broadcasting, charity and the ceramics industry.

His son John Sandon is also an expert in glasswear and has followed in his footsteps to appear on Antique's Roadshow.
