Anti-vax protester 'screams abuse' at Stephen Nolan as he goes shopping with mother in Belfast City Centre

Stephen Nolan says he had abuse screamed at him by an anti-vax protester as he was going shopping with his elderly mother.

The BBC presenter claims that as he was helping his 80-year-old mother from his car in Belfast City Centre, when a woman approached them "placard in hand" shouting abuse.

He says that the "disgusting" incident left his mother very upset.

He said that the woman had set upon them regarding the BBC's coverage of vaccines and that it had left him with a "different type of anger".

Mr Nolan took to social media to describe the events saying: "I've just had anti vax protester, placard in hand,screaming abuse at me about BBC coverage of vaccines.

"I was helping mum get out of car to go shopping . In middle of Belfast City Centre , this woman said she didn’t care how much it upset my 80 year old mother. Disgusting.

"My mother was getting increasingly upset today, as this snarling , swearing woman hurled her anti vax abuse - blaming the BBC for everything .

"The fact that didn’t care about upsetting an 80 year old pensioner has left me with a different type of anger."
