An anti-vax nurse says she still won't get a Covid jab even after both her unvaccinated parents died from the disease within days of each other.
Shanda Parish, Arkansas in the US, told the Wall Street Journal she believes the vaccine is too new and she doesn't trust it.
It comes after the deaths of her dad Robert and stepmother Vira, who were both aged in their 70s, in July.
They died within three days of each other after they contracted Covid at a high school reunion.
Despite her double tragedy, Ms Parish still refuses to take the shot even after being sent a horrifying voicemail from her dad as he moaned and gasped in hospital on his deathbed.
She said: "It doesn’t even sound human. I don’t like hearing it, but I can’t delete it."
Ms Parish claims she has been guilt-tripped about not making her parents get the vaccine but her brother was said to have tried unsuccessfully to do so.
Speaking through tears, she added: "We didn’t kill them, but some people make us feel like it’s our fault they’re gone. No one should try to make you feel guilty because someone died."
She told the publication she doesn't regret her parents choice to not get the vaccine, because it was their choice.
She said she wished she had the chance to urge them to go to the hospital earlier.
Her brother, David Herring, lives near Washington DC and has been given the vaccine.
He told The Journal that he urged his parents to get vaccinated before their deaths, and said he was angry over it.
He said: "I'm absolutely angry and frustrated. Their age and health conditions - they should have gotten vaccinated really early.
"And then trying to talk to friends of theirs and hearing these ridiculous things about depopulation and computer chips."
The area of Sebastian County has a low rate of vaccinations, similar to the rest of western Arkansas.
Reportedly, just 36.2 per cent of the counties 127,000 population are fully vaccinated and there are on average 78 new cases a day.
This is a rise of 50 per cent from the 52 cases a day a fortnight ago, and the highest since February.
Across the US Covid cases have averaged 100,000 for three days in a row, up 35 per cent over the past week.
Louisiana, Florida and Arkansas reported the most new cases in the past week, based on population numbers.
In Arkansas only eight intensive care unit beds were available on Monday in the entire state, its governor said, as the rapid spread of the Delta variant pushed cases and hospitalizations to a national six-month high.
