Anti-vax mum who claimed she 'was not afraid of Covid' dies from virus at 29

An anti-vax mum who claimed she "was not afraid of Covid " has died of the virus aged just 29.

Bridget Jackson, 29, said on Facebook she doesn't "prioritize fear over life" in a number of social media posts about her stance against against mask mandates and the Covid vaccination.

But the mum-of-three fell ill last month, asking Facebook friends for prayers and advice for "lung exercises" that she could do.

She was diagnosed with Covid-19 and put on a ventilator in hospital, where she died on December 21.

Bridget's sister Danielle Race wrote on Facebook: "She has been in the hospital the last month she's been fighting Covid. As of a couple days ago she took a turn for the worst and she is on the ventilator 100%."

Bridget, from Port Huron, Michigan, leaves behind three kids all aged under 10.

Unvaccinated people are six times more likely to test positive for Covid than vaccinated people, according to the recent research by Centers for Disease, Control and Prevention in the US.

But Bridget often shared posts and memes online that promoted her stance on Covid.

In one post, she wrote: "Just because we don't wear a mask doesn't mean we lack common courtesy or don't respect you.

"We simply believe your fear is your issue."

Health authorities in the US and UK, including the NHS, stress vaccines remain the best public health measure to combat Covid.

Vaccines are highly effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalisations, and death.

More than 39 million people in the UK have been fully vaccinated - a figure which represents around 71% of the population.

Brits are again encouraged to get the booster jab, though, as Boris Johnson assesses the vaccination rate ahead of deciding on imposing further Covid restrictions.

At least 315,000 new Covid infections were diagnosed over the three-day Christmas weekend.
