Anti-social behaviour at The Rock and McDonald's in Bury sparks police operation

Police in Bury have launched a new operation in response to an increase in anti-social behaviour.

The town centre, The Rock shopping centre, and McDonalds have all seen an increase in anti-social behaviour - alongside other nearby areas.

"Anti-social behaviour includes being inconsiderate and intimidating members of the public, and shop keepers," the Bury Policing Team said.

They have already issued two 'banning orders'.

Councillor Ummrana Farooq, who represents East ward, said in a Tweet: "This is great news, often we hear about people not feeling safe in Bury town centre, this operation will give peace of mind."

The Bury Policing Team said: "Police officers will be deployed to locations, identifying offenders who are engaging in anti-social behaviour or criminality."

Operation Heartbeat was launched today by Inspector Scott Brady.

Greater Manchester Police for Bury North said: "Bury Town Centre Insp Scott Brady has today launched Operation Heartbeat.

"This is in response to increased ASB activity around Bury town Centre, The Rock, McDonald's and other nearby areas.

"ASB includes being inconsiderate and intimidating members of the Public, and shop keepers. There have been Two banning orders issued already.

"Police officers will be deployed to locations, identifying offenders who are engaging in ASB or criminality.
