Anti Boris Johnson protest to be held in Glasgow this weekend

An anti Boris Johnson protest is to be held in Glasgow this weekend, following the news that Parliament has been suspended.

Earlier today the Prime Minister announced he would seek an extended suspension of Parliament ahead of a Queen's Speech on October 14.

The Queen gave the green light to his request from her home at Balmoral, Scotland at around 3pm.

The move means members of parliament will have limited time to pass any laws that could prevent Johnson taking the UK out the EU without a deal on October 31.

In response to the suspension of Parliament, a protest has been arranged by the Another Europe is Possible group.

The rally against the Prime Minister will be held in the city centre at George Square from 2pm -5pm on Saturday.

Organisers say: "Boris Johnson is trying to shut down our democracy so that he can deliver on his Brexit agenda.

"We can’t just rely on the courts or parliamentary process to save the day. We all have a duty to stand up and be counted.

"Join us at 2pm in George Square to defend democracy and fight against Boris Johnson’s Brexit agenda.

"This is part of a nationwide wave of protests this Saturday.  #StopTheCoup."
