Anthony Stokes wanted by Robbie Fowler for India move as former Celtic and Hibs striker eyes next challenge

Robbie Fowler wants to take Anthony Stokes to India.

The Liverpool legend is set to be appointed the new head coach of East Bengal and he now wants the former Celtic and Hibs striker to spearhead his team’s push for the Indian Super League.

Fowler has already opened talks with Stokes, who quit Livingston earlier this month despite having just signed for them, over a deal.

The 32-year-old is a free agent after he terminated his contract with the Tony Macaroni side.

Stokes decided to tear up his Livi contract without playing a game because of issues with the artificial surface.

The Irishman has already shown he is more than happy to travel in recent seasons.

He has had spells in Greece with Apollon Smyrnis, Iranian sides Tractor and Persepolis, along with a stint in Turkey with Adana Demirspor. He was also previously linked with a move to Indian side ATK before signing for the Lions.
