Anthony Scaramucci says Donald Trump would want referendum on Welsh independence

Donald Trump would like to see Welsh independence happen, according to one of the President's former leading members of staff.

Anthony Scaramucci, who served briefly as the US leader's director of communications, made the statement during an online interview last night with Tony Blair 's one time right hand man, Alistair Campbell.

Scaramucci, or The Mooch as he's known, was asked by Campbell half way through the 70-minute webinar how both Trump and his Democratic opponent Joe Biden regarded Brexit Britain ahead of the upcoming presidential elections in America.

Voicing his own opinion that breaking away from the EU would be a bad thing for the UK - economically at least - Scaramucci said he believed Biden would have also opposed the decision, favouring instead a reversal of the process and "putting that genie back in the bottle."

How his former boss Trump viewed the European political landscape, however, was a very different matter.

Scaramucci: "That's Trump's personality - the more havoc and the more chaos the better" (www.workcast.com)

"Trump, he's the orange wrecking ball, so he loves (Brexit) and he would like more commotion ahead," said the ex-Wall Street financier.

"That means possibly another referendum in Scotland and maybe a new referendum in Wales, because that's his personality - the more havoc and the more chaos the better."

Scaramucci went on to describe Trump's first term in the White House as "a reality show that's hopefully about to be cancelled".

"He doesn't really care (about the UK)," he added.

"When he does a new search he types 'T-R-U-M-P' - he doesn't search for 'USA' or 'UK', and he's definitely not searching 'Y-O-U'.

"He couldn't give two s**** about 'Y-O-U'."

Insults and interruptions dominate Donald Trump and Joe Biden's first debate

The outburst should come as no surprise, Scaramucci having become one of Trump's fiercest critics since his sensational sacking in 2017 - just 10 days into the job.

Trump too has been no less kind about the 56-year-old New Yorker during the intervening years, calling him a 'nut job', amongst other things, in one of his many controversial tweets.
