Anthony Rizzo used a WWE legend’s theme music in surprise return

Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo made a surprise return to the lineup on Thursday after suffering an ankle injury last weekend, and the leadoff man had some perfect walkup music for the occasion. Just a few days ago, Rizzo was forced to use a scooter to get around the clubhouse, but with the regular season coming to a close and the Cubs locked in a battle for a Wild Card spot, Rizzo desperately wanted to get back on the field.

On Thursday night against the Cardinals, Rizzo used WWE legend The Undertaker’s theme song as his walkup music – a perfect tune for someone back from the dead.

In his second at-bat, Rizzo smashed his 27th home run of the season to tie the game.

The Cardinals went on to beat the Cubs 5-4 in 10 innings to maintain a three-game lead over the Brewers in the NL Central. The Cubs are one game behind the Brewers in the race for the second Wild Card spot with nine games left to play.

Via NBC Sports:

“We gotta win now. And I love this team…I love playing. That’s what I want to do. It’s what I love doing — playing baseball, especially for this team that we’re fighting at Wrigley Field in late September to go to the playoffs and that’s where all the magic happens.”
