Anthony Rizzo's return from disabled list on schedule

CHICAGO _ Help should arrive shortly for the Cubs' inconsistent offense.

Anthony Rizzo, who has been sidelined since April 6 because of lower back stiffness, should return on time for the start of Monday night's National League Central showdown against the rival Cardinals.

"He's doing good," manager Joe Maddon said of Rizzo, who was placed on the 10-day disabled list. "He's doing very good."

Rizzo said he felt fine as he walked out of the clubhouse with a bat in his hand.

"He's walking and smiling and he's happy, and his work is very good in the weight room," Maddon said. "He should be on schedule to come back on time."

Rizzo, a three-time All-Star first baseman, is off to a 3-for-28 start.
