June 30--The run-starved Chicago Cubs will put Anthony Rizzo back in the second spot Tuesday night against the New York Mets as they try to snap a five-game losing streak.
Rizzo batted third on Sunday, but the Cubs were 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position in a 4-1 loss at St. Louis.
Matt Szczur will the start in left field and bat sixth, with David Ross behind the plate as the Cubs start a predominately right-hand hitting lineup against left-hander Jonathon Niese.
Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Dexter Fowler and Addison Russell were a combined 7-for-45 (.156) in the three-game weekend sweep by the St. Louis Cardinals.
Also, Class-A Myrtle Beach pitcher Duane Underwood Jr. tweeted that he is undergoing an MRI Tuesday in Chicago. The nature of his injury has not been disclosed, but Underwood is one of the Cubs' top pitching prospects.
Underwood, ranked as the 10th overall prospect in the organization by Baseball America, is 6-3 with a 2.66 ERA in 12 starts.
