Anthony Munoz shoots down Joe Burrow-Bengals narratives

Anthony Munoz would know better than most about narratives surrounding the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Bengals legend recently opened up in a new interview, shooting down the idea the team and city would be a bad fit for likely first-overall pick Joe Burrow, according to Paul Myerberg of USA Today:

“As a quarterback, how can people say, ‘Go to Cincinnati and your career is over.’ Believe me, I’ll be the first if there’s something with the organization. I won’t trash ‘em, but I love talking about it. ‘How can we improve this?’ But, I mean, again, I think they have the pieces.”

Most of the narratives were bad-faith arguments and a twisting of what Burrow has (or hasn’t) said. But Munoz’s point stands — Cincinnati has been good to its quarterbacks over the years and the current roster, featuring Tyler Boyd, Joe Mixon, A.J. Green and others, isn’t too shabby for a rookie passer.

Munoz advised Burrow to go to his home team, embrace the community and work from there. Regardless of outside noise, it sounds that’s the plan for all parties.
