'I’m yet to see him sprint' - Man Utd hero Andy Cole aims dig at Anthony Martial

Manchester United hero Andy Cole has told Anthony Martial to decide what he wants to do moving forward, as the striker begins pre-season under Erik ten Hag.

The attacker had a rough season last term scoring just twice; once for United and another time during his short-term loan at Sevilla. He was subjected to limited game time upon the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo but had been off the boil before then.

Martial has netted 79 times in 269 competitive games for United but only eight of these have come in the last two seasons. Nevertheless, Ten Hag started him against Liverpool in their pre-season encounter in Bangkok on Tuesday.

Many players are said to be seeing the new manager’s arrival as a fresh start, with the coach himself underlining that everyone is starting with a clean slate. Cole believes Martial needs to figure out if he wants to take up the opportunity of starting anew and vie for his place or instead seek new pastures.

Speaking on MUTV, he said: “It’s a fresh start for all of them. For me with Anthony, he needs to make up his mind what he wants, he’s got all the talent but we are yet to see it.

“He’s been here five years and I’m yet to see him sprint the full length, we know what’s in him but we’re yet to see it.”
