Anthony Martial sends cheeky penalty warning to Manchester United teammate Bruno Fernandes

Anthony Martial has cheekily warned Bruno Fernandes he will be shooting next time Manchester United earn a penalty.

The Portuguese midfielder netted from the spot for United again on Monday night as they secured a 1-0 win over FC Copenhagen in the Europa League quarter-final.

United's energy levels were put to the test during their gruelling encounter as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side had two goals ruled out for offside and also struck the woodwork twice in open play.

Copenhagen goalkeeper Karl-Johan Johnsson also thwarted United with the best game of his career as he broke the Europa League record for the most saves in a single match with 13.

In the end it was a coolly dispatched penalty from Fernandes which proved the difference as he converted from 12 yards following a foul on Martial in the box.

Taking to social media after the match Martial congratulated his teammate on the goal but warned he has plans to take the next effort himself.

"Again I give you a penalty but next time I will shoot," Martial joked on Instagram followed by two laughing face emojis. "Well done bro."

Since arriving six months ago Fernandes has now netted seven penalties in all competitions for United as they also broke the Premier League record for the most spot-kicks won in a single season.

Speaking last month former United manager Mourinho appeared to aim a sly dig at the 25-year-old by referencing the amount of penalties Fernandes has taken since arriving in England.

“Bruno came in, was fit, played very well, improved the United team and also proved to be a great penalty taker, one of the best in the world, because he had about 20 to score," he told Record.
