Anthony Martial's representatives take aim at Man Utd legends with Instagram defence

Anthony Martial's representatives have defended the France international amid criticism of his recent Manchester United form.

United's inconsistent season will end with the Red Devils missing out on a top four place and the 23-year-old is one of a number who has suffered a dip recently.

Martial has scored 12 goals in 37 games in all competitions this term, but six of those arrived in a five-game spell back in October and November.

Former Monaco forward Martial has scored just two league goals in 2019, and has, like many of his teammates, seen his form dip after initially shining under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Indeed, having initially been first choice under the Norwegian, he has now slipped down the pecking order, finding himself once more behind both Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford.

Now however, his representatives, USFA Management, have sought to defend their client amid criticism - and have taken aim at former United stars in doing so.

The graphic posted on Instagram was captioned 'Criticising is easy, the truth is on the pitch'.

It shows that Martial has scored 48 goals in 173 games during his career at United, at a rate of 0.28 goals per game.

The France international, who signed a new contract at the club earlier this year, was missing from Sunday's 1-1 draw with relegated Huddersfield .

However, there are still questions over his long-term future at the club, particularly after he was overlooked in the recent must-win clash with Chelsea when Marcus Rashford was substituted due to injury.

Solskjaer elected to bring on Alexis Sanchez, amid suggestions he had been unhappy with Martial's application during the pre-match warm ups.

A video of Martial went viral after the match, showing him standing around on the field, ahead of kickoff.
