Anthony Martial opens up on Manchester United strike partnership with Marcus Rashford

Anthony Martial has revealed that the way he works with Marcus Rashford helps to 'terrorise' opposition defences and the pair compete in training over who is the best finisher.

Manchester United have got off to a decent start to the season. After kicking-off the campaign with a 4-0 demolition of Chelsea at Old Trafford, the second game saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side held to a draw by Wolves.

One thing that has been hugely positive in the opening two games is the form of Martial and Rashford.

The duo have grabbed two goals each in two games and look to have developed an understanding that could prove to be deadly as the season goes on.

Martial has opened up on the partnership and explained what makes them so dangerous to defences.

"At training, we have this competition between us about scoring goals," the Frenchman told Sky Sports.

"We measure who does the best finishing and who scores the most.

"Who's winning? Well, that depends... Sometimes it's him, sometimes it's me. In games, Marcus likes to play in the middle, like me. I don't mind dropping off, dropping out, we interchange during games.

"It doesn't bother me to let him take the lead occasionally. It helps us to terrorise opposition defences and I hope we can keep it up over the course of the season."
