Anthony Martial ‘doesn’t want to stay’ at Man United as agent reveals Frenchman is eyeing January exit

Anthony Martial is unhappy with his lack of playing opportunities at Man United and wants to leave the club in January, his agent has revealed.

The Frenchman has started just two Premier League matches this season, and he has played a total of 67 minutes in the Champions League group stage across two appearances.

Martial joined United from Monaco in 2015, and his current deal at Old Trafford runs until June 2024, with the option of a year extension.

But speaking to Sky Sports, his agent Philippe Lamboley made it clear that the 26-year-old is keen to leave the club in search of regular football when the transfer window opens.

“Anthony wishes to leave the club in January. He just needs to play,” Lamboley said.

“He doesn’t want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon.”

Martial has missed the first two matches of Ralf Rangnick’s reign due to a knee injury picked up in training, with the German confirming the issue ahead of United’s win over Palace.

“Anthony trained on Saturday and half an hour after he had pain on his knee,” Rangnick said.

“We had a meeting with the medical department and we agreed he should try to recover. We need to make sure he reduces pain in the next few days and hopefully have him back training next week.”

However, it would seem that Martial has little interest in waiting to see if he is in Rangnick’s plans for the rest of the season when he returns from injury.
