Anthony Mantha's late goal completes impressive weekend for Wings

DETROIT _ Put the some of the NHL's best teams in front of them and they were unbeatable this weekend

Anthony Mantha scored with 30.9 seconds left in the game Sunday, breaking a 2-2 tie and sending the Wings to a 3-2 victory over the Golden Knights at Little Caesars Arena.

Mantha wheeled around Brayden McNabb, who took an ill-advised chance to play the puck, drove to the net and snapped his 11th goal past goalie Malcolm Subban.

The Wings (6-12-1, 13 points) followed an impressive victory over Boston (11-3-2) with another solid win over Vegas (9-7-3), after having lost 12 of 13 games.

Madison Bowey tied the game at 2 at 10:57 of the third period, his first goal, and it was a highlight-reel tally.

Bowey was in the process of being tripped when he was hauled down to the ice by William Carrier. As Bowey was going down, he lifted a shot toward net that beat Subban glove side, tying the game.

Andreas Athanasiou (power play) had the other Wings goal, while goaltender Jonathan Bernier stopped 17 shots in his second consecutive start (first such back-to-back all season).

Jonathan Marchessault and Max Pacioretty (Michigan) had Vegas goals while Subban made 16 saves.

Athanasiou's second goal of the season was a rocket from the dot on the power play at 19:15 of the first period, one-timing a pass from Mike Green.

But the Golden Knights, during a dreary second period _ only five total shots, two by the Wings _ regained the lead.

Knights forward Nicolas Roy made a good play entering the zone, found Pacioretty on the edge of the circle, and Pacioretty snapped a shot far side past Bernier, his sixth goal, at the 9:04 mark.

Vegas opened the scoring in the first period on Marchessault's fourth goal at the 16:27 mark.

Dennis Cholowski lost control of the puck along the boards, leading to a 2-on-1 Knights rush with Reilly Smith and Marchessault.

Smith fed Marchessault perfectly for a one-timer past a defenseless Bernier.
