Anthony Mackie Discusses Creative Challenges In The Marvel Cinematic Universe

Anthony Mackie

Anthony Mackie, the new bearer of Steve Rogers' legacy in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World, recently discussed the challenges of creativity within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) compared to his experience on the Peacock series, Twisted Metal.

Mackie highlighted the controlled nature of entertainment in the MCU, noting the limitations on creativity due to the vast content provided by Stan Lee. In contrast, working on Twisted Metal allowed for more freedom in building the world and creating characters without the constraints of existing comic book storylines.

One key difference Mackie pointed out was the ability to introduce and potentially kill off characters in Twisted Metal, a creative choice that is more challenging within the established framework of the MCU.

Reflecting on his role as Sam Wilson/The Falcon in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Mackie expressed his enjoyment of the show and his desire for a second season to continue working with co-stars Sebastian Stan and Daniel Brühl. However, with the characters transitioning back to the movies, Mackie lamented the loss of the camaraderie he shared with his friends on set.

For fans interested in Mackie's latest project, Twisted Metal is currently available for streaming on Peacock, offering a dose of action-packed carnage for viewers. Meanwhile, Captain America: Brave New World is set to hit theaters on Valentine’s Day 2025, showcasing Mackie's portrayal of the iconic superhero.
