The first official look of Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson in 'Captain America: Brave New World' is here!
The new suit is a stark contrast to Mackie's previous appearance in his Cap attire, notably featuring darker shades of blue and a return to the goggles reminiscent of his Falcon days. Director Julius Onah shared insights into Wilson's evolution as Captain America, describing it as his "coming-out show," that will bring to screen his character's journey and challenges.
As soon as the look was posted online, fans took to the comments section to share their reactions. Unlike the lighter blue and white 'Falcon' suit, fans weren't to impressed with the upgrade, with some claiming that it looked like Chris Evans' character Steve Rogers' old suit. The first look garnered rather mixed reactions, some of which have been listed below:
Mackie took on the role of Sam Wilson back in 2014's 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier', starring Evans in the lead along with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Sebastian Stan as the Winter Soldier.
Since then, he has been Cap's trusted sidekick, with appearances in several MCU instalments including 'Avengers: Endgame', where he takes over the shield. His story culminates in his transformation into the new Captain America in the web series, 'The Falcon and The Winter Soldier'.
Recent footage of 'Brave New World' screened at CinemaCon treated attendees to a sneak peek at Harrison Ford's portrayal of the new Thunderbolt Ross, succeeding the late William Hurt. Marvel enthusiasts speculate that Ross will assume the alter ego of Red Hulk.
'Captain America: Brave New World' is slated to hit theatres on February 14, 2025.
