Anthony Lynn explains why Chargers didn’t run QB sneak to win vs. Titans

The Chargers could have gone a couple ways to have a different outcome in Sunday’s loss to the Titans. Atop of the plays they could have ran is one of the simplest: the quarterback sneak.

Today at media availability, coach Anthony Lynn was asked why the coaching staff didn’t draw up the quarterback sneak when they were sitting at the goal line with a few opportunities to score.

“He hasn’t done it a lot in the past. It’s not just a little, bone-headed play; it’s a skill. I’m not saying that Phil can’t do it, but he just hasn’t done it a lot,” Lynn said.

Since Lynn has been the coach, Rivers has one successful quarterback sneak.

The fact that Los Angeles didn’t run the play at least once is another indication that their confidence in play-calling is lacking. Or, they’ve never felt the need to ever practice this play, which is very questionable.

Rivers is a 6-foot-5 and 240 pound quarterback. The mobility is not there, but he has the frame to push to at least get a yard and win them the game that they desperately needed.
