Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev fight official for June 20 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, challenger claims

Kubrat Pulev says he has now officially signed a contract to fight Anthony Joshua at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on June 20.

The Bulgarian, 38, is the mandatory challenger for 'AJ's' IBF heavyweight title, which the latter won back - along with the WBA, WBO and IBO belts - by avenging his shock loss to Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi Arabia in December.

"The contract is officially signed. I am happy that I will be able to show the world how strong I really am," Pulev said on his official Facebook page.

Joshua followed that announcement by taking to Twitter to post a picture of himself holding the heavyweight titles underneath the caption: "June 20th".

However, he stopped short of confirming either an opponent or location.

Pulev was originally supposed to challenge Joshua for his titles during the champion's first reign in Cardiff in October 2017, only to replaced by Carlos Takam at short notice after suffering a right shoulder injury in training.

'The Cobra' is a two-time former European heavyweight champion whose only previous world title challenge came back in 2014, when he was knocked out in the fifth round by Wladimir Klitschko in Hamburg.

The fight will be Joshua's first back in the United Kingdom since he stopped Alexander Povetkin inside seven rounds at Wembley Stadium in September 2018, with the bouts against Ruiz Jr held in New York and Diriyah respectively.

A potential all-British unification showdown against Tyson Fury has been put on hold after Deontay Wilder exercised his right to trigger a trilogy fight against the self-anointed 'Gypsy King', who claimed the WBC title with a dominant display in Las Vegas last month.
