Anthony Joshua vs Jarrell Miller: World heavyweight champion highlights key to Joshua Buatsi fulfilling potential

Anthony Joshua has hailed Joshua Buatsi devotion to the sport and insists he is "going to become a world champion."

The Olympic bronze medallist has impressed in his short career in the professional ranks and has the opportunity to claim the British title this weekend against Liam Conroy.

But Joshua has much higher expectations for Buatsi, who he represents as a manager, with the world heavyweight champion claiming he can go all the way.

"I always look at people outside of the ring," Joshua told Sky Sports. "Buatsi, a devoted man to his religion, well educated, so I think his star quality is his devotion to the sport, and how intelligent he is. He mixes that devotion with his intelligence and he puts it into the ring.

"He's very smart, he's graduated in university, and he's a graduate in amateur boxing. Went to the Olympics, captured bronze, and he's going to become a world champion of the future."

Buatsi is on a three-fight streak of first round knockouts, to leave him already ranked in the WBA and IBF top 15, and victory against Conroy will propel him to the brink of world honours.

But Joshua is wary of rushing Buatsi, underlining the need to be patient ahead of his appearance on the undercard of Charlie Edwards vs Angel Moreno, with Lawrence Okolie also set to feature.

"Developing fights are key, but in business that's so big, and so much pressure," said Joshua.

"Whether they give him enough time to grow, I'm not the one to answer that, but I believe he has so much unlocked potential still, that they can tap into. I just don't want him to cross over to championship level too soon, because there's no coming back."
