Anthony Joshua vs Jarrell Miller undercard: Katie Taylor faces Delfine Persoon for undisputed lightweight title

Katie Taylor will attempt to unify the lightweight division when she takes on WBC champion Delfine Persoon on the undercard of Anthony Joshua vs Jarrell Miller.

Taylor added the WBO title to her WBA and IBF belts when she registered a TKO victory over Rose Volante in March.

Having already become the first Irish fighter to hold three world titles, she will attempt to take the division’s last remaining championship at Madison Square Garden on June 1.

Taylor has a flawless record since turning professional with 13 wins from 13 fights but faces the biggest test of her career against Belgium’s Persoon.

The 34-year-old has held the WBC belt since 2014, successfully defending the belt 10 times. She has just one defeat on her professional record – dating back almost nine years.

“Persoon is recognised as one of the best in the world pound-for-pound and has been the WBC champ now for over five years so it's the best against the best,” Taylor said.

“Madison Square Garden seems like the perfect setting for a fight of this magnitude."

Taylor vs Persoon is the first undercard fight announced for what will be Joshua’s US debut.

Croydon prodigy Joshua Buatsi and former IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook could also feature on the New York card.
