Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz result: Eddie Hearn hits out at Deontay Wilder for 'kicking Joshua while he's down'

Deontay Wilder unleashed a verbal attack on Anthony Joshua after the Brit was shocked by Andy Ruiz Jr on Saturday night, and Eddie Hearn has criticised him for doing so.

Joshua suffered the first defeat of his career as he was knocked down four times before being waved off by referee Mike Griffin.

Immediately after the fight, Wilder tweeted: “He wasn’t a true champion.

“His whole career was consisted of lies, contradictions and gifts.

“Facts and now we know who was running from who!!!!! #TilThisDay”

Despite recovering to make it through rounds four, five and six with both men seemingly taking a breather to recuperate, the seventh was one that will never be forgotten.

Ruiz was able to land heavily on Joshua and sent the former unified heavyweight champion to the canvas, before sending him back down on his back for a fourth time.

Speaking in the post-fight press conference, Hearn was read the tweet and responded by blasting Wilder for a ‘lack of class’.

“I’m sure there will be lots of people who are delighted AJ lost tonight.

“Deontay Wilder has zero class for kicking Joshua while he is down.”

Tyson Fury, meanwhile, sent a rather wholesome message to his heavyweight rival.

“We have our back and Forth’s but @anthonyfjoshua changed his stars through life,” Fury wrote on Twitter.

“Heavyweight boxing, these things happen, rest up, recover, regroup and come again.”
