Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz fight NOT at risk due to weather conditions and thunderstorms

Eddie Hearn has rubbished suggestions the Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz rematch in Saudi Arabia could be cancelled due to weather conditions.

Joshua will try to reclaim his IBF. WBA (Super) and WBC heavyweight titles from Ruiz in Diriyah on the outskirts of Saudi capital Riyadh, with ringwalks scheduled for 8:45pm tonight.

Rain and heavy thunderstorms have hit the region on fight day however, prompting a handful of reports suggesting the fight is now at risk.

But Matchroom boss Hearn has shut down those claims, telling a Twitter user the reports are ‘total rubbish’.

Joshua was knocked down four times en route to a seventh round defeat to Ruiz in New York, suffering his first professional defeat on a stunning night at Madison Square Garden.

He will attempt to become just the fourth man to reclaim his heavyweight titles in a direct rematch – a win would see him join that exclusive club alongside Muhammad Ali, Floyd Patterson and Lennox Lewis.
