Anthony Joshua vows to knock out Deontay Wilder inside six rounds should world heavyweight champions meet

Anthony Joshua insists he would “take out” Deontay Wilder in six rounds if the world heavyweight champions met in the future.

Joshua was able to box and move to a comprehensive points decision against Andy Ruiz Jr last month, recapturing the WBA, WBO and IBF belts.

Wilder defends his WBC strap next month in a rematch with Tyson Fury, but Joshua has already analysed a potential super fight with the Bronze Bomber and how he would pursue victory to become undisputed champion of the world.

“He wouldn’t be there to do that in the seventh round. I would go in to knock him out,” Joshua told Sky Sports.

“It’s heavyweight against heavyweight, champion against champion. This is a serious fight, so I ain’t going to go in there to try and outbox him for 12 rounds, because of his punching power as well.

“I’ve got to go in there and take him out. Don’t let him get too comfortable in the ring with me.”

Wilder has a 95 per cent knockout ratio and dispatched both Dominic Breazeale and Luis Ortiz with devastating stoppages last year, but Joshua is not afraid of the American’s power.

“Nah, [it’s] not scary, but I know it’s there,” Joshua remarked.

“There are certain punches. Some are like concussive, some are stinging and some are like punches where they knock you out with one punch and you’re out for the count.

“Wilder possesses that kind of power. It’s about eliminating that power and just studying how to deal with it really.”
