Anthony Joshua signs up for CBeebies bedtime for second appearance on show

Anthony Joshua is expected to be that much of a success on CBeebies Bedtime Stories, that bosses have reportedly got him to sign up for a second stint on the show before the first one has even aired.

The boxer will read children’s tale, The Snowy Day, by Ezra Jack Keats, however a date has not been set for that episode.

The former world champion is set to read Ravi’s Roar, by Tom Percival, on this evening’s episode [Friday] of the children’s show.

Ravi’s Roar is about an angry young boy who learns how to understand his feelings and express them in a healthy way. The Snowy Day tells the story of a lad named Peter, who wears a snowsuit and steps out of his house into a wintry world.

The book was published in 1962, and was among one of the first African-American characters to feature in a major children’s book.

Fans of the show have reportedly been excited about AJ being set to feature.

A source told The Sun said: “The reaction to AJ featuring on CBeebies Bedtime Stories has been huge. There’s so much excitement.

“The BBC were desperate to book him in for another sitting, which he gladly agreed to. It’s a privilege to be asked twice and he sees it as a great honour.”

Other stars who have participated in the show include Harry Styles, Tom Hardy and Chris Hemsworth, with Kate Winslet and Richard E Grant set to join AJ as a reader on CBeebies over the Christmas period.

Fellow sports stars to have picked up a book for youngsters include Harry Kane. The England captain took on the role prior to leading the Three Lions out in Qatar.

He read The Lion Inside written by Rachel Bright and illustrated by Jim Field, which is a story that follows a shy little mouse who sets out on a journey to find his roar.

The forward selected the book himself and he reads it to his three children to remind them how even the smallest creatures can have the heart of a lion.

He said at the time: "One of my favourite things to do is sit down with my children before bedtime and read them a book. I enjoy this quality time with them."
