“In the first round, I started to feel myself a little bit. I only jabbed a few times. I got hit obviously, but I realized that he didn’t hit that hard and then I started to play around, pick my shots and caught a few times, so I decided to try to take him down.”

Hernandez on letting loose in the cage

“It feels amazing to get my first UFC win. … I was trying to have some fun. I need that performance bonus, so I just decided to have fun, play around. I know I can take a shot and what I can give, so I got in there and had fun.”

Hernandez on what he wants next

“Now I will heal my face, get Max (Griffin) ready for his fight (vs. Alex Morono at UFC on ESPN+ 19 in October), and get going.”
