Anthony Gordon perfectly sums up Everton journey with Leighton Baines after making home debut

Anthony Gordon reached another milestone on Wednesday night as he made his Everton home debut against Leicester City in the Carabao Cup.

The youngster was introduced as a second half substitute, helping the Blues get back on level terms after being two goals down.

Everton were eventually defeated 4-2 on penalties but it's a night the 18-year-old will remember fondly.

And the forward has perfectly summed up just how far he has come in a short space of time.

Gordon tweeted two picture of himself and Leighton Baines , one taken seven years ago when the forward just 11 years old and the other from Wednesday night's match.

The forward captioned the post: "The difference 7 years can make, an idol turned into a team mate."

Baines scored a stunning goal to equalise for the Blues but couldn't convert his spot-kick in the shoot-out.

But the teenager's post shows how much of role model Baines has been on Gordon and just how far his own Everton journey has come.
