Anthony Davis' thumb injury does not appear to be serious

LOS ANGELES _ An MRI exam on Anthony Davis' sprained right thumb Monday revealed no serious damage, according to people not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

Davis was already scheduled to rest Monday instead of play when the Los Angeles Lakers meet the Golden State Warriors in a preseason game at Staples Center.

Davis was injured during the first half of the Lakers' exhibition game against the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday in Shenzhen, China, while trying to block a shot. He had it wrapped in black tape and returned to the court.

He finished the game with six points on two-for-seven shooting, two rebounds and a steal in 12 minutes.

LeBron James and Golden State's Stephen Curry, Draymond Green and D'Angelo Russell were not expected to play in the game Monday night.

Lakers forward Jared Dudley, who missed the first three games because of a knee injury, was expected to play Monday night.

The Lakers and Warriors play again Wednesday night at Staples Center and once more Friday night at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
