Anthony Davis thinks LeBron James is ‘most valuable to their team’

While it shouldn’t be a shock to many that Anthony Davis vocally put his support behind LeBron James to win the 2019-20 NBA MVP award, making it his fifth ever. While Giannis Antetokounmpo is the overwhelming favorite in the sportsbooks, with BetOnline listing him earlier this week as an overwhelming 2-15 favorite, meaning you’d have to bet 15 dollars to win two while giving LeBron James 8-1 odds, Davis still believes that LeBron has a better case as the MVP than experts and the betting public are stating.

According to Davis, he believes that James should be awarded an MVP in part because of the fact that the Lakers “struggle without LeBron on the court” and that he was “taken away” a couple of MVP awards earlier in his career.

Even if the Lakers win tomorrow and James has a dominant performance, it will be hard to see it swinging the opinion of so many who see Giannis averaging 30 points, 17 rebounds and nearly five assists per game on the best team in the NBA. However, if the Lakers, who are four back in the loss column of the Bucks, manage to make things more even in the standings, Davis’ comments could carry a little more weight come the end of the season.
