Anthony Davis says Lakers bench is ‘trying to make up for no fans’

The Los Angeles Lakers, like every other team in the NBA Bubble, has had to deal with the adjustment of not having real-life fans at their games. Almost ever since the Lakers got to the bubble, LeBron James and the squad have discussed the difficulty of playing without the energy of a crowd. After last night’s Game 1 loss to the Blazers, the issue of a lack of energy was brought up again in the post-game press conference.

Anthony Davis, according to Lauren Jones, said that the Lakers bench is trying to make up for the lack of a crowd with their energy.

With both eight seeds winning Game 1 on Tuesday, the topic of a lack of homecourt advantage became an even bigger focus. LeBron James, to his credit, says that his level of preparation remains the same going into these games that it would be. Still, it’s not great that with the playoff already here, that the lack of crowd noise remains such a concern for the Lakers after over a month of being in the bubble.
