One of the biggest differences that LeBron James was quick to point out between last year’s Los Angeles Lakers squad and this year’s edition was that this team is much more experienced. With a “veteran ballclub” things wouldn’t be a carbon copy of last year’s odd season from the very beginning. And according to Anthony Davis, who is heading into his 8th season, the veteran nature of the team has led to the team picking up Frank Vogel’s strategies quickly.

“It’s great so far. I feel very comfortable in our system, comfortable being here. It’s been great,” Davis said after practice on Tuesday. “It’s going to be fun all year. There’s always something new. Every practice we learn something new about each other as a team, so the more and more we get to learn each other, the more fun it will be.”

“Most of the stuff that we’re putting in, it’s the same stuff the whole league runs with different terminology and different actions out of it,” Davis said. “Coach has done a great job of just giving us a basic offense and letting us play out of it.”
We have yet to see the Lakers take the court and will have to wait until this weekend when they face off against the Golden State Warriors to open the Chase Center in San Francisco on Saturday.
Offense may be the most intriguing thing to look for in the Lakers first preseason game. While Davis’ comments allude to a basic offense, it would be very interesting to see if the Lakers can create some easier looks for their stars by implementing some more motion and more creativity offensively than Luke Walton displayed last season.
