Anthony Davis ready to show he can succeed on big stage with Lakers

As Anthony Davis prepares for his first season with the Los Angeles Lakers, he’s eager to show why he’s one of the top players in the NBA. In an article written by ESPN’s Dave McMenamin, Davis spoke of how he he’s looking forward to showing people he can thrive on a bigger stage.

“I think having that for the first time is going to be fun,” he says. “I’m looking forward to it. Just to show the world, like, ‘All right, it wasn’t a fluke for seven years in New Orleans.'”

During his career with the New Orleans Pelicans, Davis established a name for himself in a league filled with talent. He is a six-time All-Star, and the only time he wasn’t named an All-Star was his rookie year.

In three of his seven seasons with the Pelicans, Davis averaged 25 points or more a game. During the 2017-18 season, he ranked third in the league for points per game. Add in his decent shooting, passing skills and ability to defend, Davis is one of the most complete players in the league.

On Saturday, he gave a taste of what fans have to look forward to during the Lakers’ first preseason game.

The Lakers defeated the Golden State Warriors 123-101, and Davis led the team in scoring with 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Davis has been to the playoffs twice during his career, and during the 2017-18 season, the Pelicans made it to the second round. They were defeated 4-1 by the Warriors, the eventual champions.

Now, with Davis playing alongside LeBron James in Los Angeles, he’s in position to win a title. And if Davis shows he can hoop in big moments, then that will only add to his status as one of the game’s best players.
